Summer 2013, Issue II

End of Summer

안녕하세요!  Annyonghaseyo! Greetings!

It seems like only yesterday that I was welcoming students to our summer program yet over the last few days I have bid them farewell. Thursday was final exams so we had a farewell party at a nearby hotel the previous Friday.  It was great to be all together one last time and hear about their experiences.

A number of students used the CIEE Cultural Reimbursement Program to experience Korean soccer culture, attend concerts, a B Boys dance tournament and other performances, and visit historic monuments. Aside from having fun exploring the city and other parts of the country to learn about Korean culture, some students gave back to the community by volunteering at a school for students with learning disabilities. Most students were happy with their classes, even though they said they were long and intensive. Many students said they wish they could stay longer and some said they are already making plans to return to Korea. I hope they will.

Community Service

On their last day of volunteering at the Sarang school for students with disabilities, CIEE students
helped the young students make traditional Korean food. The students said that they really enjoyed volunteering at the school and loved the kids.
